Armed Services Editions (ASEs) were small paperback books of fiction and nonfiction that were distributed in the American military during World War II. From 1943 to 1947, some 122 million copies of more than 1,300 ASE titles were published and printed by the Council on Books in Wartime (CBW) and distributed to service members, with whom they were enormously popular. This edition is in good condition. Some minor defects may exist related to aging such as coloration fading, pages partially yellowing, etc. Major defects will be noted. The spine is somewhat faded and somewhat puckered.

Melody Jones had never done anything like it before. He just didn't like the looks of the guy, so he knocked him down. Here he was -- a strange man in a strange town -- and now the townsfolk bowed and scraped to him. When his hand nonchalantly fell to his pistol butt, faces paled and strong men whimpered. What Melody didn't know was that he bore a striking resemblance to Monte Jarrad, the most feared killer in the southwest -- and that the moment he turned his back, he'd walk into an ambush.
